ElevenTwelve in Guatemala
What God does when the global church comes together
ElevenTwelve, Vista’s High School Ministry for 11th and 12th graders, went on a missions trip to Guatemala! A total of 10 leaders and 23 Juniors and Seniors from the ministry set out to work with Praying Pelican Missions in Patzicia, Guatemala, partnering with a local church there named “Aposento Alto”.
In April 2023, students spent three days in teams working in construction and delivering food/supplies to neighboring families on behalf of the church. At the end of each workday, students also ran Vacation Bible School for the kids of Patzicia, singing kids’ worship songs, leading crafts, and games, and even writing and performing skits to teach the children the stories of Jesus. The ElevenTwelve team was greeted with gratitude, welcomed warmly, and met with the love of Christ by the pastor of Aposento Alto, his family, and his congregation.
After dedicating a week to work hard, sit with families in their homes, play with kids, and ultimately express and learn about the love of Christ, many of the students’ lives were impacted and changed. One student even got baptized during the trip in Guatemala!
For the students of ElevenTwelve, this trip doubled as an opportunity to see the Gospel in living color and really understand just how much Jesus loves them. As serving others often is, this trip was a blessing to both the students of the North Coast ElevenTwelve ministry and the local church they partnered with in Guatemala.
What a gift to watch God move when the global church comes together!
